Glades County property search: S and A parcel numbers, ranch land and the lake's two flood maps
Search the Glades County Property Appraiser by owner or address, or by the 18-character parcel number: an S in front means a platted lot, an A means acreage. Then read the land around it. Nearly two thirds of the county's outlined acres are pasture and farm, a fifth is Lake Okeechobee itself, and on flooding FEMA and the state's lake surge model tell two different stories.
The letter at the front of the number
Every one of Glades's 11,648 parcel numbers starts with a letter. 6,766 start with S, and almost all of them are lots in a subdivision, a quarter acre at the median. 4,874 start with A: acreage, with a median of nearly ten acres. The next six digits are the section, township and range of the land on 10,403 parcels, so a number places a tract on the survey grid before you open it.
The appraiser's search takes the owner, the address or the number. In our search box, type the number as the roll writes it, letter included, or use the address.
The postal names cross the county line
Glades has one city, Moore Haven, and its addresses borrow the names of towns around it. 4,597 parcels carry a Moore Haven address, 3,303 a LaBelle one, after Hendry County's seat to the south, and 2,653 an Okeechobee one, after the city across the lake's north shore. Palmdale, Venus and Lake Placid share the rest.
The vacant lots tell their own story. 2,818 parcels are coded vacant residential. Of the 456 with an Okeechobee address, 335 mail their tax bill out of state; of the 1,258 at LaBelle addresses, 375 do. Why cheap lots are cheap.
Who holds the big pieces
| Holder or use on the 2026 roll | Parcels | Acres of outline |
|---|---|---|
| Grazing land, the largest private use (code 60) | 1,664 | 287,716 |
| Glades County, the lake parcel included | 57 | 136,030 |
| The United States, as Indian reservation land | 100 | 41,317 |
| The state's Internal Improvement Trust Fund, under three names | 124 | 25,425 |
| The South Florida Water Management District | 164 | 10,501 |
The county's largest parcel is 135,525 acres of open water and marsh: the state's land cover layer reads it as 43.7% water and 55.7% wetland. That is the Glades County share of Lake Okeechobee, the 730-square-mile lake whose west shore the county wraps around, and it alone is a fifth of the county's outlined acres. The reservation parcels, with a just value of $360.3 million, are the Seminole Tribe's Brighton Reservation northwest of the lake. Owner searches find them under the United States, the holder of the title in trust.
Two flood maps for one lake
FEMA's map puts 1,814 of the 11,030 parcels it covers, 16.4%, in its high-risk zones. 1,089 of those are zone A, drawn without a base flood elevation; 531 are AE and 194 AH. The other 9,215 are zone X. Behind the Herbert Hoover Dike, the levee around the lake, most of Moore Haven is X: only 699 of its 4,597 parcels are high-risk.
The state's surge model reads the same ground differently. It simulates a hurricane pushing the lake against its shore, and it gives 4,261 Glades parcels a surge category, 3,244 of them at Moore Haven addresses. 460 take water in a Category 1 storm, 577 first in a Category 2, 1,011 in a Category 3 and 1,672 only in a Category 4. 4,191 of them also fall in an evacuation zone, lettered A to E. Check an address on the state's Know Your Zone map, and read flood zone and surge on what each map means.
What land sold for
Glades is a small market. The state's sale file holds 1,198 sale records for 2025 and 239 qualified one-parcel sales (codes 01 and 02), against 434 in 2021, the peak of the last seven years. The 2025 qualified sales, by today's use code:
- Mobile homes: 82 sales, median $163,500.
- Vacant residential lots: 64 sales, median $27,750.
- Single-family houses: 55 sales, median $285,000.
- Agricultural land: 10 sales, median $458,500, too few to price an acre by.
Glades's sales come from the state's files alone; the appraiser posts no sales file we can read. The final-roll file runs through August 2026, and September holds less than half of what the same month of 2025 did. How sale months fill in.
What our map lacks for Glades
- Zoning. None on our map. The county's zoning layer we found was last edited in 2018, and we have not loaded it. Ask the county's planning office.
- Building details. No building file from the county: the report shows the state roll's square footage and year built, with no beds, baths or stories.
- Sewer. The health department's inventory has 4,377 parcels known or likely on septic and 795 on sewer, and most of the rest unclassed.

Type the address, the owner or the number. The report shows the owner and mailing address, values, the use code, the sales we hold, future land use, FEMA's zone, the surge category and evacuation zone, wetlands, soils, and the septic and well line. 23.7% of Glades parcels carry a homestead exemption and 15.7% mail the bill out of state; 19.3% have an owner we match to a Sunbiz filing. The Portfolio button under the owner lists every parcel that owner holds in Florida. More small counties: the ten smallest rolls.
